St Peters Church now has its own dedicated wbsite where you can access lots of information as detailed at the bottom of the page.
Please bear in mind that the Church is always here if you need any help or someone to talk to. You are welcome to call Rev Adrian Watkins (Rector) 741949, Rev Ginny Manning (Assistant Priest) 644229 or Hugh Bunbury (Churchwarden) 643635.
Situated prominently in the centre of the village, St Peter’s represents the tradition of Christian faith in Palgrave over many centuries yet moving with the times and as relevant today.
The medieval church building has all the familiar features ... bell tower, nave, chancel, porch – but is nonetheless unique. Call in and pick up our church history booklet to find out what makes it special.
Palgrave church exists for the whole community. It is open every day for prayer and contemplation, or just to look around and enjoy the peace. There is a service every Sunday, usually as follows:-
First Sunday of month:
8.00am Holy Communion. Traditional form from the Book of Common Prayer. A simple service with no music.
Second Sunday:
11.00am Holy Communion. Service of Eucharist in contemporary language – known as ‘Common Worship’. The service includes an address and four hymns. Prayers and Bible readings are given by members of the congregation.
Third Sunday:
9.45am ‘Family@Church’. A service for all ages using projected words and videos and sometimes a small music band; always with a different approach to offering prayer. Refreshments are served before and after the service.
Fourth Sunday:
10.30am Benefice Service, held in each of the seven churches in turn. Holy Communion from the ‘Common Worship’ lectionary.
For details of clergy, services and other activities, see the church noticeboard or take a copy of the Benefice magazine. St Peter’s is one of the seven churches (six parishes) that make up the benefice of North Hartismere. There is much more information on the Benefice web-site which can be accessed here.
